Our aim is to create a better environment for the people and businesses of Fife. We want to deliver a smart service that redirects refuse away from landfill and reduces rubbish by using the latest recycling solutions.
From skip hire for businesses to one-off collections, kerbside recycling contracts and commercial waste disposal for builders, factories and developers, we provide affordable, reliable and responsible solutions to all your waste disposal needs.
But we’re not just committed to a cleaner, greener environment, but a sustainable one too. And that goes for our policies on employment. We provide local jobs for local people, giving them a sense of achievement, job satisfaction and the knowledge that they’re playing an integral part in the future of Fife.
Working with local businesses
We created Recycle Fife in 2003 to work with local businesses, setting up a network of like-minded companies with one thing in common – a passionate belief in a cleaner, greener world. This network has spread over the past decade, to create a group of businesses all working together towards a better environment for everyone.
When the proposed landfill site between Kinglassie and Ballingry was announced, we were determined to make it a redundant exercise by diverting as much recyclable material back into the local consumer cycle. Our mission is to save the world – one skip at a time!
As a social enterprise we have social outcomes
We’re not an ‘ordinary’ skip hire and recycling company. We’re a social enterprise with charitable status, and in the 10 year’s we’ve been operating we’ve focused on building not just a cleaner, greener community, but a stronger one too. We’ve created valuable employment in our local area, with 187 jobs created since our inception. We’ve provided real work experience placements that lead to sustainable employment.
Employers are faced with a range of challenges such as an ageing workforce, lack of skills and lack of training opportunities. Most employers cannot afford to train someone, or can’t afford to spend the time to make someone capable of holding down a job. We saw this as a real weakness in the community, and are committed to turning it around. So we work with young people, people with no work experience, the long term unemployed, people who have been made redundant. We offer real training, real jobs and real hope for the future. All our profits are reinvested back into the business, so that we can build on this foundation in years to come.
We also work with schools providing school leavers with valuable work experience. We are currently part of the Employment Initiative with Lochgelly High School and many other local employers including Exxon Mobil, The Purvis Group and Bifab.
